Set in lush secondary rainforest, the Night Safari is a must-see for visitors. The world’s first night zoo (opened in 1994) allows you to witness what over 2,500 nocturnal animals from 130 species get up to after dusk, in naturalistic habitats and without barriers, via the use of special lighting techniques. Lions? Check. Rhino? Check. Leopards? Check. Flying squirrels? Check! Manatees, crocodiles, flamingos and monkeys are just some of the 5,000 beasties you’ll encounter in this river-themed wildlife park, which boasts the world’s biggest freshwater aquarium and a panda exhibit housing the cuddly couple Kai Kai and Jia Jia. The River Safari is split into two zones: the Rivers of the World, which showcases animals from eight rivers including the Congo and Yangtze, and Wild Amazonia, where you can come face-to-face with over 30 animals from the rainforest on a boat ride aptly named Amazon River Quest.
An ideal corporate gift is the one on which you can add a little message along with your branding without making the gift look weird. Singapore Memories allows you to do that with its clear box with just one side with the brand logo. You can add a sticker or a card with the branding of your company along with a message for the person to whom this gift will be given. This can come in handy when you are giving them away to your clients, colleagues and business associates reminding them about your brand and association. We use plants in so many ways for health. Most of those that come to mind are internal: teas, syrups, tinctures and capsules. While aromatherapy has become a popular health and wellness buzzword, we tend to think this healing only comes with the high cost of a tiny bottle of essential oil—not so! Long before we had the technology to distill the fragrant plant particles into liquid form, people were still able to seek wellness through aromatherapy. Walking through your flower garden in the morning, just as the first rays of sun warm its colorful petals, will transport and lift your mood. This is perhaps the first aromatherapy experience that captured humanity’s imagination.

It takes at least 3 hours to fully enjoy the treetop walk at a distance of around 7 km. Gardens by the Bay is a huge, colourful, futuristic park in the bay area of Singapore; and has won countless architecture awards. The famous Supertree structures offer an impressive skywalk over the gardens, over-sized seashell-shaped greenhouses recreate chilly mountain climates and there are hundreds of trees and plants to discover, making this destination great fun for both kids and adults.
The generic name, ‘children of the air’, is derived from Greek aer (air) and eides (resembling), referring to its epiphytic nature and the way such orchids are cultivated. A. crispa is a large, tough, robust epiphyte. Young leaves are typically covered with purple spots. Inflorescence is up to 35 cm long, drooping, branching, loosely many-flowered. Ear-drops prepared by boiling the pulverised plant in neem oil, are instilled 2–3 drops at a time into the ear every night to treat earache in the Western Ghats. A. crispa contains aeridin, a bactericidal phenanthropyran. The contribution of aeridin to the management of earache is undetermined, but it works as a bactericide.
The opulent Marina Bay Sands resort complex includes a high-end luxury hotel, a mall with a canal running through it, the ArtScience Museum, and the Marina Bay Sands Skypark – a vantage point for taking in the entire city. The Skypark’s viewing deck and infinity pool are found in the ship (yes, ship) that tops the hotel. Only hotel guests are allowed to use the infinity pool, but anyone can visit the observation deck. From the Skypark, you can see the innovative double helix bridge, the port, the Gardens by the Bay, and the impressive skyline. While up there on top of the city, guests can grab a snack or a coffee at the rooftop restaurant or pick up some keepsakes from the souvenir stand. You can purchase a photo of yourself green-screened in front of the massive hotel as it’s all lit up at night, but the cost is steep: 50 Singapore dollars. Better to ask a fellow tourist to snap a photo of you. The elegant opulence of the Marina Bay Sands exemplifies Singapore’s style and status as a major international city in Southeast Asia.
